Ons Jabeur suffered another heartbreaking loss in the finals of Wimbledon, as she was defeated by Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets in the final. This is the Tunisian’s third straight loss in the finals of a Grand Slam, after facing defeats in the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open last year.
Some of the greatest players in the game have lost several Grand Slam finals before laying their hands on the title. For instance, Chris Evert and Simona Halep lost three major finals prior to winning their first Grand Slam title. On the other hand, former Belgian tennis player Kim Clijsters took five attempts to win her maiden slam.
Ons Jabeur revealed that Kim Clijsters offered her emotional support in the locker room after her loss in the finals. “Four actually. We were crying together at the locker room (smiling),” Jabeur said when the reporter mentioned the Belgian’s losses in the Grand Slam finals. The Tunisian vows to come back stronger, and promised to her camp that they were going to win the Wimbledon title one day.

Moreover, she really appreciated the former tennis player taking the time to console her post her defeat.
“I love Kim so much. She’s a great inspiration for me. I grew up watching her a bit. The fact that she takes the time to give me advice and to really hug me, always be there for me, I think it’s priceless. Yeah, she was telling me all the time she lost four. That’s why I know the information, otherwise would have been tough. But, yeah, that’s the positive out of it. You cannot force things. It wasn’t meant to be. It wasn’t meant to be,” Jabeur said.
Ons Jabeur had quite a tournament, as she defeated four Grand Slam champions on her way to the finals. The Tunisian defeated defending champion Elena Rybakina in the semifinals in three sets. She also breezed past Petra Kvitova in the quarterfinals in straight sets.
