Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur fell prey to the intense humidity of New York during her first-round match of the ongoing 2023 US Open against Colombia’s Camila Osorio. She evidently suffered from breathlessness and constant coughing in the very first set of the match and the medical team had to rush to her aid. They checked her blood pressure, and she was able to continue with the match after a slight pause, eventually.

Jabeur ended up winning the match 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) in straight sets pretty convincingly, but the humble Tunisian still apologized to her opponent for causing the pause in the match due to her medical emergency. Jabeur revealed that Camila had asked her if she was alright and told her that she was a warrior.

“She’s such a nice person. She asked if I’m feeling ok. She told me I’m such a warrior. I apologized for bringing the doctor on court because I didn’t do it on purpose. She congratulated me for the match,” said the 29-year-old.

Fans have a lot of hope on the US Open 2023 fifth seed. She was the finalist of the 2023 Wimbledon Open, i.e., the very last Grand Slam. She played immensely well throughout that tournament but suffered a disappointing defeat to the eventual winner, Marketa Vondrousova. Irrespective of the medical problems, however, Jabeur moved on to the second round of the tournament with ease as her campaign continues.

After her first-round victory over Camila Osorio, Jabeur will now be facing Czech international Linda Noskova in round 2 of the tournament. The 18-year-old youngster has a career-high ranking of World No. 41 (current) and is on the rise. Thus, the Tunisian must not take her lightly, lest she shock the world with an unexpected result.

Jabeur will look to avenge her Wimbledon final loss in the ongoing US Open and that can only be done by a phenomenal performance throughout the tournament. She is one of the top-tier female tennis players in the world right now and has a great chance of winning the Grand Slam. The Tunisian has not won a single Grand Slam to date.
