Simona Halep faced a major setback in her career when her blood test reports found positive for a banned substance. She has been suspended from all her duties on the WTA Tour till the final verdict is out and will face a suspension of four years if found guilty. Ons Jabeur expresses her disappointment upon finding out about the doping controversy.

The 2-time Grand Slam champion released a statement where she claimed to be completely unaware of consuming the substance. She claimed to be completely innocent and stated that she will keep fighting until the final truth is revealed. She even requested the support of her fans in the matter till she comes out clean.

The Tunisian regretted the situation that the Romanian player is facing. However, she expressed that she is unclear about the complete details of how it happened but hopes that Halep is saying the truth about her unintentional mistake. The World No 2 said, “For me, it’s very sad to see what can happen when someone makes a mistake. What she’s saying is that it was a mistake, something unintentional“.

Jabeur further spoke in the interview that “A cheating person always shows a very high level of the substance in their tests, but Simona’s result reflects a very low percentage. I’m not sure what happened, it’s every player’s fear of taking something unknowingly and testing positive for doping. It’s a very uncomfortable situation, I hope Simona is telling the truth because no one wants to be involved in something like that

Simona Halep’s former coach extends his support amidst her doping controversy

Simona Halep‘s former coach Darren Cahill stood out in support of the Romanian. Cahill went on to defend the 2019 Wimbledon champion as he penned a long heartfelt post expressing his belief in her. He even said that there is no chance that she could do something of this sort especially consume a banned substance purposely.

He vouched for the integrity and fairness of the player since he had coached her for six years. He thinks that she will come to clean out of this mess soon. He even expressed that the Romanian’s biggest strength is her honesty. After Cahill, Patrick Mouratoglou, her present coach even extended his 100% support and spoke about standing by her until the battle is over.
