World No. 7 Ons Jabeur’s broke down on court and pledged that her prize money would go to Palestine. Following this incident, audiences on Twitter (now called X) rose against the Tunisian. They accuse Jabeur of not ‘having any tears for Israeli babies’ as they claim that Israelis were equally affected by the war.

This leaves the Pole to be the only player Jabeur has yet to play against in the group stages. Swiatek, on the other hand, has been successful in all of her group stage matches. The former World No. 1 made it to the semi-final at last year’s edition of the tournament. However, this has been her highest finish as the season approaches.

The duo has played each other six times before this encounter. However, it has been Swiatek who has won four of these matches. Jabeur will have to play her best game if she hopes to close the lead between them in the head-to-head statistic.
