There are special moments in every sportsperson’s career. One of them is certainly to meet their favorite player from their sport or some other sport. Being celebrities themselves doesn’t stop them from admiring their idols. Prominent WTA superstar Ons Jabeur had just that type of fangirl moment when she met David Beckham at Wimbledon.
Jabeur recently tweeted, in which she exclaimed that she was extremely grateful to meet the great English footballer. Her tweet read, “A pleasure and an honor to meet David Beckham. Thank you for this inspiring moment.” She also added pictures of both of them. Along with the pictures, there was a wholesome video that captured their meeting. One can see Beckham come towards Jabeur.
Both sports stars shake hands and follow that up with a warm hug. They then engage in a discussion in which one can see a beaming smile on the Tunisian’s face all through the conversation.
It was truly a special moment for Jabeur to get this golden opportunity to meet her favorite footballer. David Beckham also looked very pleased after meeting his fan girl.
Can Ons Jabeur go a step further at this year’s Wimbledon?
Ons Jabeur made it to the finals of the Championships in 2022. She lost to Elena Rybakina in the grand finale. After that, she also lost in the US Open final. Iga Swiatek was victorious on that occasion. Ons Jabeur would love to get hold of a Grand Slam after these losses. She would target the prestigious Wimbledon trophy for that this time around. The Tunisian ace has made the best possible start on her quest for the title.
She defeated Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-3 in her first-round contest. The match took hardly an hour to get over. This was a very solid start, as this will warm her up for the higher difficulty that is to follow in the event. She will next face Zhuoxuan Bai in her second-round match. She will hope to get a similar win and improve her chances for a tournament win.
