You know, it’s a tough decision to come back, and I was the one that insisted that I come back in Indian Wells and Miami. It was probably too early to come back, but I just made it a new challenge for myself,” she said.

She also told the journalists about her frame of mind during the match and coming into this tournament.

I did regret it after the first set. But then, you know, I just told myself to accept what’s happening, to fight through it, and to just see how it goes. I’m sure it will get better and better every match. It was a little more than that. But at the moment I can’t talk about it, sorry. When the time is right, I’ll tell you what really happened. It was in any case a complicated period for my mental health,” she continued.

The current World No.3 is having some troubles with her physical health. She entered into the Australian Open carrying a knee injury. This hampered her performance on the court and she was knocked out of the tournament in the second-round itself. At that time, she on social media promised her fans that she will return healthier on the court.

Despite the health issues, I will keep fighting and come back stronger and stronger. Time to recover and get healthier. Thank you All for your support. Thank you Australia! See you soon!” her caption read.

She subsequently withdrew from both the Qatar Open and the Dubai Tennis Championships citing health reasons. She underwent a surgery, however, did not gave much details about it in her social media post.

“In order to take care of my health situation. My medical team have decided that I need to get a minor surgery in order to be able to be back on the courts and perform well. I will have to retire from Doha and Dubai and this is breaking my heart. I would like to say sorry to all the fans out there in the middle east that waited for this reunion. I promise I will come back to you stronger and healthy,” her caption read.

Ons Jabeur will have to move beyond her injury concerns if she wants to reach the advanced stages of the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open. Interestingly, she will take on Marketa Vondrousova in her second-round fixture at the Indian Wells Open. The same player had knocked her out of the Australian Open.
