Joining the discussion of less financial aid for the lower ranked players, the World No.7, Ons Jabeur expressed her opinion in favour of the players. She joined hands with the Serbian legend, Novak Djokovic who is also fighting for the same cause.

The Tunisian stated, “ If you know me & you know my personality, I really like to help players. I truly love this sport. I believe the sport deserves much better. Like Novak said, we’re the 3rd most watched sport in the world & barely a few players can make a living out of this. It doesn’t add up.” This tragic reality of the lower ranked players urged Ons Jabeur to join the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) founded by Novak Djokovic as a players association.

Jabeur also talked about how she sees the players struggling similar to how she used to struggle back in her days. She feels that these players must not handle the the financial stress about payments to coaches and physiotherapists, rather they must enjoy the beautiful sport. One mentioned,” I just feel like maybe the top 500 players should be well paid so they don’t have to worry about money or worry about anything else besides enjoying this sport.”

She also added that the authorities should make sure that these players make a living out of the sport and not face any kind of financial burden. PTPA was founded to tackle issues that tennis players regularly face and many other tennis players have joined the cause to fulfil the needs that are being ignored by the tennis authorities.

After a disappointing 4th round exit at the US Open for the Tunisian, she is back on Tour and will face Anastasia Potapova in the 2nd round of the San Diego Open. She will be hoping to correct her mistakes in the past and will be expecting to have a better season next year. She overcame Alycia Parks in the first round, defeating her in a 3-set thriller.

Ons had a fairly good season this year until now. She reached the finals of the Wimbledon this year where she lost to Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets. Her shocking round of 16 defeat against Chinese, Qinwen Zheng should motivate her to perform better in the coming tournaments. She is a talented player who has a slam written in her name soon enough.
