Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur was recently asked about her wishes for the 2024 season and she came up with a very witty response. The 29-year-old somehow also managed to take a dig at the incomplete stadium construction at the 2023 WTA Finals in her response, which was loved by many fans. Jabeur is one of the eight players participating in the 2023 WTA Finals and she will hope to end her season on a high note by performing well in the tournament.

Jabeur while pointing out her wishes for the 2024 season in the presser said:

To win Wimbledon. That final. I should have won it. I think that’s an easy wish. The 2nd wish is my knee would be better because I struggle with my knee a lot. The 3rd would be the stadium ready on Wednesday.

The incomplete construction of the Plaza Quintana Roo in Cancun, where the 2023 WTA Finals are being held, has raised questions among the organizers and fans and the players participating in the tournament are annoyed. Earlier, Elena Rybakina and Marketa Vondrousova took a dig at the organizers for this through their Instagram stories and now Ons Jabeur has joined them.

Jabeur has been placed in the same group as Marketa Vondrousova, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff in the WTA Finals and thus it is going to be difficult for her to make it to the semifinals of the tournament. However, she has been handed the golden opportunity to take revenge against Vondrousova for her defeat in the 2023 Wimbledon Open final.

Ons Jabeur is unhappy about the incomplete construction of the Cancun Stadium

The WTA Finals is set to be held at Plaza Quintana Roo in Cancun and the players could not practice at the stadium ahead of the tournament because construction work was still going on. Jabeur has voiced her displeasure in not being able to practice at the stadium due to this mismanagement.

I mean, obviously as a player, I wish that the stadium was ready couple of days before in order to have a better preparation and everything. But, yeah, I don't want to take the effort that the construction team had done for the past six weeks, I guess. I know they done a lot of hard work. I want to thank them for that.

On the sports side of things, the Tunisian World No.7 has had a bittersweet year where she was able to win two titles and reach the finals of Wimbledon for the second year straight. Jabeur will be looking to end the season on a high note by winning the WTA finals for the first time in her career.
