“Our goal should be to put ATP events closer “- Rafael Nadal supports ATP’s One Vision, says it is a ‘Win-Win’ formula

Rafael Nadal and Andrea Gaudenzi
Rafael Nadal has expressed his support for the ATP’s ‘OneVision’ proposal for the men’s tour’s expansion. The planned structural reforms to the circuit, according to Nadal, will assure consistent investment in the sport and assist tour tournaments in bridging the gap with Grand Slam events.
Rafael Nadal, the 14-time Roland Garros winner, recently took on the role of the interviewer in Rome, discussing the future of tennis with Andrea Gaudenzi, the current ATP Chairman. Their main goal was to educate fans about ‘OneVision,’ the ATP’s long-term strategic strategy, the first phase of which was authorised and would be implemented in January of next year.
The ATP’s ‘OneVision’ plan is divided into two phases, with the primary goals being driving unity, improving the spectator experience, and harnessing scalable growth potential in media, analytics, content, and technology.
“I think it’s a win-win formula”- Rafael Nadal on ‘OneVision’

In the interview, Andrea Gaudenzi elaborated more on the concerned matter. He said, “One of the beginnings is providing the players with the transparency of the economics of the tournaments. If the tournaments do well financially, the players will get 50% of the profits on top of the prize money. It’s also important to enhance the premium product — our bigger tournaments like in Rome, Monte-Carlo, Madrid, and Shanghai.”
The 22-time Grand Slam winner agreed and backed the concept, describing it as a “win-win formula.” “I think it’s a win-win formula. The Masters 1000s are huge events. Sometimes from my personal perspective, the rest of the tournaments are considered much lower than Grand Slams, so I think our goal, as ATP, should be to put our tournaments closer and closer to the Slams in terms of promotion and importance. We need to encourage the tournaments to keep going.”
