After a very tough start to the year, Novak Djokovic is finally getting back on track. He had to miss many tournaments throughout the season due to his vaccination status including two Grand Slams- the Australian Open and the US Open. He won his first title in Rome and also won his 21st major title at Wimbledon. He then won two back-to-back titles at Tel Aviv and Astana and has won 18 of the last 19 matches.

In the Paris Masters this week, he defeated Maxime Cressy in the second round before avenging his previous loss against Karen Khachanov in straight sets 6-4,6-1.

Lorenzo Musetti didn’t have a very good start to the season and underperformed passively till the French Open. He then played the Forli Challenger and won it. Finally, he performed in accordance with his talent and won the German Open where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final. After the US Open, he made back-to-back semifinals at the Sofia Open and the Firenze Open before winning the Napoli Cup.

This week in Bercy, he defeated Marin Cilic and Nikoloz Basilashvili in the early rounds before stunning third seed Casper Ruud in the Round of 16 in three sets 4-6,6-4,6-4.

Djokovic clearly will be the favorite to win the match. He is currently thriving on a winning streak and is looking invincible. He finally is showing the consistency he is known for and the fast courts at Bercy suit his game well. Having said that, Musetti will put up a fight against the Serb but won’t manage to cross the finishing line.
