Novak Djokovic is the favourite player to win the US Open final and record history by gaining a monumental 24th Grand Slam Title. He has previously won 3 titles at the US Open in 2011,2015 and 2018 respectively. He will face third seed Daniil Medvedev whose only claim to a Grand Slam title has been the 2021 US Open title. Interestingly the opponent he defeated at the finals in 2021 was Djokovic.
Former tennis player and commentator Patrick McEnroe has contributed to the Djokovic vs. Medvedev matchup. In a video uploaded to Twitter, McEnroe shared his options on who could be the winner at the 2023 finals.
The former tennis player is currently quarantined at home as he tested positive for COVID-19. He was quite impressed with the Russian’s performance in the semifinal against Carlos Alcaraz. He said it was quite impressive that the second seed won a four-set victory against the Spaniard. His daughters were also cheering him on and saying they liked him as a “goofball’. McEnroe agreed with his daughters on the term and said that he loves his personality.
He also further added that he could potentially gain a victory against Djokovic to covet the title of US Open champion once again. He said that he is glad there is someone from this generation who has “stepped up” to Alcaraz and Djokovic.
