Patrick Mouratoglou has come out in support of Simona Halep after fresh doping charges were pressed against her. The Romanian has been provisionally suspended until October 2022 after a doping test from the US Open came out positive. The banned substance found in the doping test was Roxadustat.
Recently, Simona Halep was accused of another anti-doping violation, and she swiftly took to social media to explain her stance. The two-time Grand Slam champion claimed that the ITIA had been harassing her during the whole investigation after they found irregularities in her athlete’s biological passport.
Simona Halep’s coach Patrick Mouratoglou supported the Romanian in her stand against the ITIA. The French tennis coach has requested that authorities to stop the harassment, and conduct the hearing without any further delays. “I ask the ITIA to stop this harassment that is inconceivable and to stop constantly delaying the hearing that should have been held in February and is now planned at the end of May,” said Mouratoglou.

Patrick Mouratoglou shocked with the handling of the Simona Halep doping case
Patrick Mouratoglou expressed his disgust at how the doping allegations against Simona Halep were being handled. The Frenchman wants the 2018 French Open champion to get a fair and equal opportunity to present her stance. Patrick also slammed the ITIA, saying they have wrongfully suspended Simona Halep, despite the latter showing plenty of evidence that proves her innocence. The duo had worked together only for a brief period in April 2022; however, the Frenchman has enough trust in Simona Halep to defend her against the wrong accusations.
“I am extremely shocked by the way this case has been conducted. I thought that the ITIA would pursue the goal to establish the truth, but they clearly try to prove her guilty even though she has been able to show multiple evidence of her innocence since December 2022,” said the Frenchman.
Recently, former world number one Ashleigh Barty also came out in defense of Simona Halep. In an interview with the Guardian, the three-time Grand Slam champion believes that the Romanian truly deserves a chance to explain her side.
“I really sincerely hope that she has an opportunity to have her say and to explain her side, because there are always two sides to every story,” the Australian stated. “I think you’d be struggling to find anyone who wouldn’t want to see her back out there doing what she absolutely loves, which is competing on a big stage against the best in the world,” Barty said.
