Tennis fans have bashed the French coach Patrick Mouratoglou for stealing the current US Open champion Coco Gauff’s impressive run in the USA. In a video with CNN, Mouratologlou reflected on how he interviewed Coco when she wanted to get admission to this academy and how he saw the potential in her at such a young age. But his remarks were not welcomed well by the tennis fans.

A section of the tennis fans consider this as a credit steal from Coco’s current coach Brad Gilbert. Mourtaoglou also spoke about how his other players and greats like Serena Williams inspired Coco Gauff to perform unbelievably well at this young age.

The tennis Twitter (now renamed as X) has become a slaughtering ground for Mouratoglou as most of the fans wanted to backlash him for his unwelcoming quotes about Coco Gauff’s career and the way he tries to bring his name into her tennis journey when it is clear that he never coached Coco Gauff in her professional years on the sport.

At a time of the tennis season after the US Open is concluded, the tennis Twitter (now renamed as X) is not as much involved in team events like Davis Cup even though Serbian World No.1 Novak Djokovic is playing this year. In that aspect, Mouratoglou’s remarks about coaching Coco Gauff came at the right time for the tennis fans to pounce upon. Here are some of the heavy tweets regarding the same.

As from the tweets, it’s clear that the majority consider this as a cheap show by the French coach. Some even doubted that this was an attempt to divert from his alleged involvement in his former player Simona Halap‘s doping verdict.
