Novak Djokovic is arguably the biggest superstar of tennis. The Serbian who has a massive 24 Grand Slams to his credit has been winning titles for fun in the last few years.

In 2023 alone, Djokovic won four major titles- three Grand Slam titles and an ATP Finals title. However, despite all these performances, Djokovic faces booing and heckling from fans in different parts of the world. The reason? Patrick Mouratoglou explains.

The renowned tennis coach who has worked with the likes of Serena Williams has pointed out the two main causes of all the booing and heckling Djokovic faces, despite sitting on top of all possible tennis records. Mouratoglou believes that a large section of tennis fans who boo Djokovic have Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as their favorite player.

The Frenchman believes that Djokovic sweeping away all the records held by these two legends compels their fans to heckle him. Mouratoglou also believes that Djokovic sometimes riles the crowd up because he draws inspiration to do well in such hostile environments.

Rafa and Roger were the biggest superstars of tennis, but Novak came in and beat both of them and the crowds hated him for that. I think he is booed for other reasons as well. He says he doesn’t like this negativity, but sometimes he pushes the crowd to boo him because it helps him during the matches.
Patrick Mouratoglou said to Tennis365.

However, Djokovic has revealed that he does not always like to play in such an environment and wants the crowd to support him like they do to the other players on the tour.

Patrick Mouratoglou predicts a similar successful season for Novak Djokovic in 2024

Patrick Mouratoglou also talked about Novak Djokovic’s 2023 season and then predicted a similar successful outing in 2024 as well. The Frenchman pointed out the recipe for Djokovic’s success. Mouratoglou also claimed that no one comes close to the Serb, no matter what the media and experts say.

While Mouratoglou accepted that Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Holger Rune are three players who can trouble Djokovic, he believes that they have not yet reached the level required to consistently beat Djokovic.

We got to the end of last year and everyone was saying Holger Rune could be the guy to stop Djokovic and now they are saying the same about Sinner, but it hasn’t happened yet...I think Alcaraz, Sinner, and Rune are closer to him, but there is one reason why they will not be favorites going into the Grand Slams in 2024 and that reason is Novak Djokovic.
Patrick Mouratoglou said.

The Frenchman hailed Novak Djokovic by calling him the greatest tennis player of all time. Mouratoglou then said that dominating the tour at such an age is phenomenal in itself and predicted that the Serbian will continue to win titles in 2024 as well.
