Patrick Mouratoglou recalls Serena Williams and Venus Williams proved the tennis world wrong with ‘Power’ when it was becoming ‘Tactical’ with Martina Hingis

Serena Williams and coach Patrick Mouratoglou
Patrick Mouratoglou, the French tennis coach has always been vocal about records, stats, and the history of tennis. In a recent video shared on his Instagram handle, Mouratoglou recalls how the Williams sisters changed the course of the game at a time when Swiss former World No.1 Matina Hingis was running the show with her tactical approach to the game.
The French coach opinioned that Serena Williams and Venus Williams stamped the authority of the game by sheer power which was entirely different from the game style of the Swiss and most of the other women tennis players. He was stating these references from history to underline that nothing is impossible in tennis.
In his words, “I like it because whenever you say(predict) something in tennis, you’re proven wrong. It’s this all the time. Everybody said when Martina Hingis was becoming number 1 in the world, that tennis has become so tactical. But then the Williams sisters(Serena Williams and Venus Williams) came in and crushed everyone with power, and then without power, it was not possible anymore, to be a top player“.
Mouratoglou then continued on how important it is to believe in your own abilities rather than copying from others, especially in a sport like tennis. As he said, “So that’s what’s great in tennis. everybody has his chance. with his qualities, and everything is always possible“.
