French coach Patrick Mouratoglou got no chill as he openly criticized the women’s top players for their poor show on the grass courts. In an Instagram video shared on his official handle, he yelled out how women always find it difficult to suit their game on grass compared to men citing the big names of Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka as examples.

Mouratoglou posted the video on Instagram with the caption -“Grass season is over, Here are my thoughts on past women’s singles Wimbledon.” Then in the video, he said, “I don’t think we’re going back to unpredictable women’s tennis. I think it’s only the weed that makes it. It is a very special surface. I think men adapt a little better than women. If you look at Iga Swiatek, you never felt during the tournament that she was really comfortable on the grass. Same for Sabalenka.”

Mouratoglou has always been vocal about his opinions. This statement by the French coach seemed to be welcomed well by the neutral tennis fans as it seems. Most of the people in the comments under the Instagram post of Mouratoglou have agreed with the controversial and bold take. It will be interesting to see whether any of the top women players react to these statements.

Despite continuing on the World No.1 ranking for a very long time now, the Polish star Iga Swiatek was never able to go past the quarter-finals in Wimbledon yet. This year odds were heavily favoring her, at least to reach the finals since her draw was opened up with the withdrawal of Elena Rybakina during the middle of the tournament. The Kazakh star was expected to meet her in the semi-finals,

But Ukranian brave heart Elina Svitolina pulled off one of the greatest grass-court performances to stop the Swiatek Express in the quarter-finals. The final score was 7-5, 6-7(5-7),6-2. After a great fight in the second set, Swiatek looked out of sorts in the third set to get kicked out of the championship.

Swiatek has won the French Open thrice and the US Open once. Her best-ever result in the Australian Open is a semi-final appearance. She will be trying hard to defend the title in the US with the hard court swing starting soon.
