This year’s Wimbledon has been full of surprises and shortcomings, with yet another incident taking place at Paula Badosa‘s post-match conference after her shock loss to Marta Kostyuk. She had a knock in the middle of the match, which forced her to retire when Kostyuk led the game 6-2, 1-0. This marked the end of the Spanish star’s hopes for this year’s Wimbledon. Thereby also withdrawing from the Mixed Doubles competition, which was scheduled for Saturday.
Badosa was coming back from a six-week break due to an injury sustained during the Italian Open way back in May. She received a great reception from her fans in her first-round victory over Alison Riske-Amritraj. But after all her hard work and the treatment she received, it was clear at the end of yesterday’s match that she wasn’t close to being fully fit for the competition.
While she was still recovering from the loss she just suffered yesterday, another funny incident occurred when she took to the post-match conference to answer a couple of questions.
The interviewer first congratulated her. To which Badosa reluctantly said, “I lost.”
However, it didn’t end there, as the interviewer continued, “You missed some matches because of injury. Could you please tell us about your fitness and confidence level, please?”
She further cleared his confusion yet again by saying, “For your information, I just lost. I didn’t win. So, yeah.”
Tennis stars have always been mocked by the media in one way or the other:

Any form of sports demands respect and great admiration, be it on the court or off the court, and so does tennis, but through the past few decades, the players have not been treated rightly by the media or the pundits. Tennis stars will always have to sit for press conferences even when they are not in the right state of mind and are forced to stay quiet even after being treated with such absurd questions.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
A few years ago, a similar incident took place with Rafael Nadal, with an interviewer forcing him to take his loss as a self-win, thereby also congratulating him. With that being said, there is no denying the fact that fans have firmly stood up for Paula Badosa and demanded the interviewers be a bit more professional with their questions and approach.
