She faced a stress fracture in her back at the start of 2023, which made her retire from Wimbledon and the tournaments after that. After missing a major chunk of 2023, she returned in 2024 with a new motive. However, sadly, the pain from the injury doesn’t seem to recede, as she had to concede against Sun, concluding her time in the Middle East.

Badosa was seemingly in good touch, as she went until the third round at the Australian Open. Following that, she also played in the Hua Hin Championships and was forced to retire due to an injury scare, making the latest walkover a little more concerning.

Badosa had withdrawn from the Thailand Open as she started her climb back into the match. This time, the Spaniard cried on the court as she was forced to give another win, leaving all kinds of doubts about her future.

Badosa, who thrives on the clay courts, may miss a few tournaments as the depth of the injury is uncertain, and the fans await as the Spaniard has yet to discuss this incident with the press.

Before entering the Australian Open, the 2021 Indian Wells champion had admitted to being pain-free. Even after returning a week after the Thailand withdrawal, there were no signs of struggle, but the scenes at the Dubai Championships made the fans worried for the Spaniard as they sent their wishes for a speedy recovery.
