Tennis professional, Paula Badosa shocked her fans with her decision to make a return to the tennis court this year at the upcoming ITF event which will be hosted by the player’s home country, Spain. The 2023 edition of the Billie Jean King Cup will be held in the city of Seville in Spain from the 7th to the 12th of November.

Former World No.2, Paula Badosa suffered a fracture in her back in the quarter-finals of the Italian Open in May this year. Following a recovery period of a few months, the Spaniard made her appearance at Wimbledon. However, in her second-round match against Ukrainian tennis professional, Marta Kostyuk, Badosa retired mid-way as her back injury woes worsened. The player also withdrew from the US Open in Flushing Meadows as well as the WTA Major event in Canada prior to that.

The former Indian Wells Open winner, Badosa will make a return to the court next month after being on an injury break for most of this season. The 25-year-old looks forward to playing for Spain at the Billie Jean King Cup next month under the guidance of the Spanish team’s coach, Anabel Medina.“Confirming the good progress of my back, my goal is to play in the Billie Jean King Cup,” the Spaniard said while in an interview with SDNA.

“Representing my country always motivates me a lot and makes me excited. I am going to do everything I can to get there,” Badosa added further as she expressed her excitement to participate in the event. The player, who played her last match 3 months ago, also announced the news to her fans as she told them that she had started training for the highly-anticipated women’s tennis team event.

Paula Badosa to team up with Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open in 2024

Spanish tennis star, Paula Badosa and her boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas had been planning on playing as a mixed-doubles pair for quite some time. Badosa recently confirmed that she will be looking forward to play alongside her boyfriend at the Australian Open next year. The couple’s relationship has been put out for public display and has constantly been scrutinized by tennis fans.

In an interview with SDNA, while discussing the extent of her injuries, Badosa claimed that she needed time to heal. She had earlier hoped to be ready by January, just in time for the season-opening Grand Slam. However, the 25-year-old seems to have changed her plans as she is currently training to represent her country, Spain at the Billie Jean King Cup next month which will be played on indoor hard courts at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville, Spain.
