Paula Badosa has gotten herself into hot water yet again, but this time it does not involve her boyfriend and tennis professional Stefanos Tsitsipas. When asked in an interview who she would choose over Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, she chose the Serb. However, as expected, this simple answer to a simple question caused quite an uproar among Nadal’s fans.

While the two rivals seem to have quite an amiable relationship on and off the court, their fans do not seem to do so. Badosa was slammed by the fans of Nadal as they took to Twitter (now known as X) to voice out their repugnance.

One particular person managed to bring up the relationship between herself and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, saying their relationship was an indicator that something was “wrong” with her. Fans resorted to Twitter to use profanities to indicate their disapproval of her choice.

With the US Open, fans can expect to see a full-fledged return of the Spaniard following a healing back. She is currently world no. 46 and is said to face veteran player Venus Williams on the court.

Badosa has not played professionally since her retirement at Wimbledon in Round 2 following a back injury. Her best result this season has been a semi-final finish in Adelaide.
