French tennis player Pierre-Hughes Herbert and his partner Nicolas Mahut have performed brilliantly in the US Open so far, and they have reached the mixed-doubles semifinals of the tournament in sensational fashion. In the quarterfinals, they beat the team of Robert Galloway and Albano Olivetti 7-5, 6-4 in straight sets. However, after the match, Pierre-Hughes Herbert had something else on his mind despite his brilliant victory.

After the match, he further revealed that his second child has been in the hospital since Friday and is expected to be there until Monday. Thus, all he can think about is his four-month-old child. It is remarkable that he was able to put forth such a tremendous effort despite such massive tension at the back of his mind.

“Léandre, my second child, aged four months, has been hospitalized since Friday and will be there until Monday. Fortunately, I have people at home who take over. Every time I get up, I don’t have very good news but I tell myself that I don’t have the right to give up and that I will find them later. The results here are quite secondary. I will go to the end of what we can do and I will return, hoping that the news is not too bad,” the Frenchman said.

Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hughes Herbert will be facing the team of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden in the semifinals of the US Open. If they manage to beat them, they might face the team of Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig in the final, who are considered to be one of the best men’s doubles teams in the world.

Herbert and Mahut’s team went into this league as the underdogs, despite having a great record in the past, and proved their mettle once again to everyone.
