‘Please come back to defend your title’- World no. 1 Novak Djokovic ever so gracious even after his defeat in the Serbia Open finals to Andrey Rublev
Novak Djokovic vs Andrey Rublev
Novak Djokovic is one of the most humble players in the tennis world. The Serbian has shown his generosity countless times and at the same time is also hailed as one of the best players of his time. He has once again proven his humble nature in the Serbian Open where he was runner up in the valiant fight he put up against Russian Andrey Rublev.
The Serbian was in a slump the entire year so far and the Serbian Open has finally seen his calling. With the hometown and the fans behind his back, the World no. 1 looked rejuvenated as he reached all the way to the finals. Although he lost the finals, the Serbian was full of praise for his opponent and said that he was one of the strongest players to have played and asked him to visit Belgrade again to defend his title. This comment has highly been lauded by fans and commentators alike who pointed out that the Serbian had a humble personality even though he lost the match.
We think that the positive rivalry and the competitive spirit channeled the right way is the way to go and this is the true goodwill of the sport to be maintained. Fans and spectators hope that they break more records and soar higher and higher.
Serbian Open finalists Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev’s Journey ahead
Both of the players will be focusing on the French Open tournament for the coming tournaments. So far french Open has not banned any Russian or Belarusian players and they are plans for them not to get a chance to play in the Grand Slam too. So Andrey Rublev is going to miss a lot of opportunities due to the Wimbledon ban and any other bans that they might specify in the near future.
Novak Djokovic will be mainly focusing on the French Open where his long-time rival and ‘king of clay’ Rafael Nadal will face each other for an exciting match. With the world no. 1 slowly getting his groove back, it will be very difficult to defeat him and his opponents will have a tough time facing him.
But for the time being both the players can bask in the glory of winning a tournament, with Novak Djokovic focusing on the next tournament and Andrey Rublev focusing on the next tournament whichever ones he can play in. The players have a lot of going for them and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!
