Caroline Garcia started the season with a quarterfinal outing at the Sydney International and after a couple of bad results, reached the semifinals of the Lyon Open. She also won the Women’s Doubles grand slam title at Roland Garros. She had a good grass court season where she won her first title of the season at Bad Homburg and followed it up with a Round of 16 outing at Wimbledon. She then reached the semifinals at Lausanne and last week made it to the quarterfinal at Palermo. She has defeated Misaki Doi and Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the first two rounds at Warsaw this week and stunned the World No.1 Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals. She then blasted past Jasmine Paolini in the semifinals in straight sets 6-1,6-2 to reach the final.

Ana Bogdan is a very consistent player in the ITF Futures and WTA 125k tournaments. She started the year by winning the ITF France 04A tournament but struggled a lot on the WTA tour. She then made it to the Round of 16 of the Istanbul Open as a qualifier and also reached the second round in Wimbledon. This week at Warsaw, she defeated the likes of Nuria Parrizas-Diaz and Katerina Siniakova in the initial rounds before beating Laura Pigossi in the quarterfinals. She then got the better of Kateryna Baindl in the semifinals in straight sets 7-5,7-5 to reach her maiden tour final.
