Mardy Fish consoles Novak Djokovic over his decision not to participate in the US Open
After missing out on the Australian Open earlier this year, Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic’s participation at this year’s US Open was under a lot of speculation but that cloud has been cleared out as the Serb’s name was removed from the entry list of the competition and now Djokovic has officially confirmed his withdrawal as well.
Yesterday, the Serbian wrote across his social media handles, “Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for US Open. Thank you #NoleFam for your messages of love and support. Good luck to my fellow players! I’ll keep in good shape and positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again, See you soon tennis world!“
Noticing Djokovic’s tweet, former American professional Mardy Fish replied by saying, “Politics win again. Sorry Champ,” Fish insinuated that it was the US government and the USTA due to which Novak Djokovic is unable to participate at this year’s US Open.
Fans also have been outraging across various social media platforms for weeks now, protesting about the Serbian’s situation but that has come to no avail as it has been confirmed that Djokovic will not be participating at the Flushing Meadows in this season.
