Novak Djokovic, the former world number one could not participate in the 2022 Australian Open for being unvaccinated, and his stance of not getting vaccinated led to his deportation followed by a three-year visa ban as per the deportation rules of the country.

With not much time left for the 2023 Australian Open to begin and much uncertainty regarding the Serb’s participation because of his vaccination status, it has been seen that ICC is allowing players to participate in the T-20 Cricket World Cup starting from 23rd October in Australia even if they have been found positive to the virus.

It has also been found that there was no mandatory testing for the virus upon the arrival of the Cricket World Cup. This has brought attention to the fact that the Australian government has laid down different rules for different sports and received a lot of criticism, especially with Djokovic’s ban still in place and Tennis Australia isn’t in the mood to go against their government’s decision.

Novak Djokovic‘s deportation proved to be one of the biggest setbacks for the Serbian legend as he could not defend his title at the Australian Open. His participation chances have been one of the most debatable discussions of the year as he could participate in only two Grand Slam tournaments. He couldn’t participate in the North American swing of his stance on his vaccination status, especially at the US Open.

With the different rules laid down for both the Australian Open and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by the Australian government, people on social media blamed the government for their biased behavior and for keeping money over the health and safety of the people while mocking the rules of the lockdown and further regulations laid down against those infected by the virus.

Many people even mocked the government for their way of approach to keeping the 2022 Wimbledon champion out of the game and not giving him at least a chance to prove again his stance and rather reducing his chances to participate since he has not been featured even in the official poster.
