Princess Kate Middleton recollects memories of Queuing for Wimbledon as she chats with security officials at the Championships

Princess Kate Middleton was an enthusiastic presence for the duration of the Championships this year at Wimbledon. As a patron of the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Princess Kate has been a regular face at Wimbledon for many years. Her enthusiasm for the oldest tennis tournament in the world is contagious, and she has been seen chatting to Wimbledon guests and fans alike during her visits.
Princess Kate‘s presence at Wimbledon also extends to the staff, who manage the queues and ensure that the tournament runs smoothly. She also met representatives from the British Army, London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade, and Metropolitan Police.
During her recent visit, she offered her congratulations to the staff, saying it was a “team effort” to manage the excited crowds gathered to see the prestigious tennis tournament. She also cheekily asked the staff members if they were able to watch some of the games as she did her walkabout.
Princess Kate recalls fond memories from her youth, queueing up for entry to Wimbledon grounds

Princess Kate’s love for Wimbledon started at a young age when she used to queue up to see the tennis matches. During her recent visit to Wimbledon, she fondly recalled her time spent queuing in her youth, saying, “Coming to see Wimbledon, it was part of the anticipation.” She also asked the Metropolitan Police if it “has been hard to manage the queues outside,” as per Express, adding that queuing has almost become a tradition now.
Another highlight of Princess Kate’s Wimbledon visits has been her appearance in the Royal Box on Centre Court. During her recent visit in July 2023, she sat next to tennis great Billie Jean King to watch the players compete for the title. She also talked to ball girls and ball boys about their experiences.
Princess Kate’s presence at Wimbledon is not just limited to watching the matches. She also presents the Venus Rosewater Dish to the winner of the ladies’ singles tournament. During her recent visit, she beamed as she handed the dish to Czech player Marketa Vondrousova after an emotional win.
Princess Kate is also likely to attend today’s men’s singles final between reigning champion Novak Djokovic and World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.
