Zheng, along with Zhang Zhizhen, took on the iconic Serbian pair of Novak Djokovic and Olga Danilovic. It was the young Chinese playing against her idol, but it did not stop her from having a tough competition.

Playing against Djokovic in the mixed doubles match was very helpfulI have learned a lot from him, even in a mixed doubles match, because he is in perfect form with every skill and in every detail. I felt the pressure of facing the history maker in that match.
Said Zheng in an interview with Xinhua News Agency.

Having lost that match against her idol, the youngster showed great brilliance by taking the positives from the match to move forward.

Djokovic has continued to defy age time and again by competing at the highest levels, which makes him an idol in the eyes of many, like Zheng Qinwen.

She recently looked back at 2023 and revealed how the roller-coaster of a year helped her grow stronger mentally and physically.

Having lost to Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals of the United Cup (2-6, 3-6), she lost her chance at the title but took nothing but positives from the tournament.

Having entered the tournament unwell, the youngster did well to help her team reach the next stage. Unfortunately for Zheng, she withdrew from the Adelaide WTA 250.

While fans suspect it is because of the hit she took during her match against Swiatek, the reason remains undisclosed. Furthermore, this leaves a huge question mark on her possible entry at the Australian Open.
