No. 12 seed Qinwen Zheng fought her way from a set down to secure her spot in the top 4. Continuing her amazing form at the Australian Open, Zheng played another 2+ hour match to come out as a winner.
After losing in the tiebreak of the first set, Zheng managed to claw her way out of a major hole by winning the second set. Continuing the same momentum, she overthrew her opponent to win the match.

With this win, she moved on to a career-first semi-final and also made her debut in the top 10. Ticking off a box on her bucket list, the 21-year-old managed to enter the top 10 of the WTA ranking for the first time.
The Chinese star did not know about this achievement until she was informed during the post-match interview with Jelena Dokic.

The 2-hour, 40-minute-long quarterfinals was another thriller showdown between the young guns. Battling from a setdown, Zheng managed to claw her way back into the match and eventually turn the tide. From down a set, she had the match in her hands with early breaks and soon won it 6(4)-7,6-3,6-1.
With this win, the youngster made it to her maiden Grand Slam semi-finals. Having started her professional career only two years ago, the 21-year-old is on the verge of a big break at the Australian Open. Zheng faces qualifier Dayana Yastremska in the semi-finals.
