Chinese tennis player Qinwen Zheng is back with her coach Pere Riba after having a fallout with her previous coach, Wim Fissette. The World No.15 took to Instagram to confirm that her coach has reunited with her since the two parted ways in June earlier this year.

Riba left Zheng to partner up with Brad Gilbert to help coach the American teenager, Coco Gauff. The two coaches were successful as they played an active role in helping the young American to win her first ever Grand Slam, with her win in the finals of the US Open this year. However, the former Spanish tennis payer stepped away from Coco’s team and has now joined hands once again with the Chinese.

After the Spanish professional left her, the World No.15 roped in Wim Fissette as her coach, under whom she had a remarkable time. The Chinese won her first career WTA singles title in Palermo in addition to reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open earlier this year.

However, things took an unexpected turn as Fissette abruptly ended the contract by breaking the terms of their partnership. He was rumored to team up with Japanese tennis player, Naomi Osaka, who recently announced her comeback to the sport post her pregnancy leave.

Things ended on a bad note between the two. However, their short stint together has not damaged the Chinese player as much as she once again pairs up with her old coach, Pere Riba. The two worked a lot the past couple of years as she entered the top 30 of the World rankings while also reaching her first WTA singles finals in Tokyo.

As she posted a picture of the two back as a team, she stated,

Reunited after some time apart, ready to embark on the journey together and prepare for the upcoming year. Back to the original time.

To top it off the 21-year-old won a gold medal in women’s singles at the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou. It will be interesting to see how she maintains her performance in the upcoming 2024 season.
