22-time singles Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal is making his comeback into the sport yet again after missing out on action for almost a year. He will feature in the upcoming Brisbane International competition that starts on 31st December. But with the growing excitement in the minds of his supporters, tennis fanatics are desperate to see the Spaniard back to his best form.
But Nadal had something else to say about his form. During a Q&A session, Rafa talked about his willingness to get back to the court running but also added the fact that he is not setting any sort of long-term goals or aims for himself whatsoever. He also talked about not seeing himself “playing for a super long time” and wants to take this comeback slow and steady.
The 14-time French Open winner wants to focus game by game and also indicates that things would not go smoothly in the beginning. Nadal said,
(not setting) super long-term goals, because I don't see myself playing for a super long time. (I want to) try to give myself the opportunity to be more and more competitive as the season goes on. I am not the player that tries to predict what kind of things can happen in the short-term and it’s even tougher in a medium period of time.Nadal said (H/T: ausopen.com)
Rafael Nadal talks about the things that he missed the most while he was away
Nadal also gave an insight into the things he missed the most while he was away recovering from his injuries. The Spaniard talked about missing the spectators in the stadium and not being able to interact with his supporters. He said,
Of course, when you are not on the court, you miss a few things. So, when you are not able to compete, of course, you miss the competition, you miss the fans, you miss playing in the best stadiums.

The Spaniard expressed his grief when he talked about the fact that couldn’t recall the last time his body was match fit. For a player like Nadal, who loves taking on challenges, to miss one entire year of tennis, it’s really heartbreaking. There is no doubt that Nadal is super excited to get back on the court yet again and to enjoy the atmosphere around the stadium.
