Rafael Nadal to directly make a comeback at Indian Wells

Rafael Nadal has returned to the tour but is still far from being fully fit. The 37-year-old made a comeback at the Brisbane International. However, he had to bow out after a defeat in the third round. The Spanish ace was supposed to play at the 2024 Australian Open, but Nadal deemed himself unfit to compete at such a high-intensity tournament.

After missing the year’s first Grand Slam, Nadal was expected to return to action with the Middle East leg of the tour. However, the 22-time Grand Slam champion pulled out of the Qatar Open, citing fitness concerns.

I would have loved to play in Doha, where the tournament team, as well as the amazing Qatar fans have always supported me greatly. Unfortunately I am not ready to compete and I won’t be able to come to Doha where I really wanted to be and play again after that unforgettable win in 2014.

The 37-year-old will now return to action with the Indian Wells Open. Nadal has confirmed his participation at the ATP 1000 event. Rafael Nadal will also play at the Miami Open before he switches to clay court season.

Nadal will be eyeing that French Open title which he is expected to lift despite coming back from injuries. The 37-year-old also has the Paris Olympics in sight.
