The tennis world is in conversations regarding the speculations revolving around the return of the Spanish maestro Rafael Nadal. The Clay court master has been off from professional tennis since his major loss against Mackenzie McDonald. After that, Nadal suffered a few more injuries which kept him out of the game for the whole of 2023.

There have been a few updates regarding the possible return of Rafa. In a recent interview, the CEO of Australian Open Craig Tiley revealed that Nadal will officially play in the 2024 Australian Open. Fans were elated by this news but soon their mood would take a whole 360-degree turn. Later on, Stuart Fraser took to X to reveal some news from Nadal’s team disagreeing with the confirmation of Rafa’s possible return.

“We have seen the reports and comments but as of today, we wouldn’t be able to confirm. Definitely, we don’t know yet. Too early to say. We have definitely not released any date cause we simply don’t know it. Rafa is just starting to practice,” said the tweet. Nadal himself took to the internet to clear the air, “I appreciate the vote of confidence from the Australian Open… I am practicing every day and working hard to come back ASAP,“  tweeted Rafa.

Nadal does not intend to return and go back to winning Grand Slams

Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion is all set to play his farewell season in 2024. The Spaniard himself has confirmed his return next year and also revealed a few more details. “Yes, I would like to play again and be competitive again, but the dream is not to come back and win Roland Garros or win Australia so that people don’t get confused, right?” revealed Nadal via Movistar +.

The news about his possible return brought some sense of hope in those who will be eagerly awaiting the time when Nadal will return. The Spaniard himself is unsure about his return but his practice videos are surely giving the tennis enthusiasts hope.
