Rafael Nadal cannot contain his excitement over Roger Federer’s Laver Cup comeback
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal
The US Open is about to begin within a week with top players gearing up for the prestigious tournament. Rafael Nadal will be looking to win his 23rd grand slam title at the last grand slam of the year to further increase his lead in the race. Meanwhile, Roger Federer is coming back to tour after struggling with injury over the past two years. Federer has been away from the tour for more than a year.
He is set to play at the Laver Cup as a part of team Europe which includes giants like Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and of course, Rafael Nadal. Federer had trouble with his knee which he revealed last year after his Wimbledon quarterfinal loss where he was defeated by Polish star Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets. The 20-time grand slam champion has already had three knee surgeries in the past two years which took him out from tour.

Rafael Nadal is confident that Roger Federer will play for a while
Rafael Nadal has already won 2 out of 3 grand slams this year with a potential US Open title on the horizon. When asked about Federer‘s return at the Laver Cup which will start on September 23, Rafa said, “Well, excited to play Laver Cup. Of course, super excited to see Roger again on court. I hope he’s healthy enough to make that happen.”
The Spaniard further added, “Yeah, let’s see. Has been a long period of time without Roger on court, so I really hope that he can manage to be back. But let’s see. The most important thing at this stage for his career is his health and happiness. I am confident that we will keep having Roger for a while. Yeah, I can’t wait to share team with him in the Laver Cup.“
Rafael Nadal has battled an abdominal injury himself this year but is back on US soil to practice for the prestigious grand slam. Despite not seeing Djokovic at this year’s US Open, we’ll see him in the Laver Cup as well. The fans are excited for the Big 3 to team up.
