Marion Bartoli hints that Rafael Nadal could follow his friend, Roger Federer way after his latest injury during the Australian Open. During the RMC Sport program, this Wednesday, the former Wimbledon champion was asked deliberately about Rafa’s situation. She explained saying it is high time for the former world No.1 to decide and participate in limited tournaments.
She also suggested that Nadal could do a Roger style in last year’s Laver Cup. Fans would want to see the Spaniard ending his career on high at his favorite major, Roland Garros. They wish to see him recover by the time of the French Open.
Speaking about Rafael Nadal she said “He is not in denial but I think he has set himself a goal, that of going to win one last Roland‐Garros. The Roland-Garros he won last year in 2022, no one thought he was going to win it. We were told that he could barely walk and that his foot was catastrophic. (…) Even if it will break everywhere, even if it will be difficult, on this surface he has the recipe and the magic formula to be ready.”
Marion continued speaking about his Roland Garros chances and said “You don’t win Roland-Garros fourteen times without knowing how to be ready. I think he will set this last deadline. And if he really sees that it’s not working, he can actually start thinking about the rest… Which game he’s going to want to play last”

Rafael Nadal exits early from the Australian Open 2023
Earlier this week, the tennis world has seen the biggest upset on day three itself. The defending champion and the top seed, Rafael Nadal lost against the American Mackenzie McDonald. During the course of the match, Rafa was seen limping a couple of times and also took a medical timeout. However, he wasn’t able to move around the court at his best.
2023 hasn’t been as kind as 2022 was to him. Before the Australian Open, he lost two consecutive matches in the United Cup and looked unlikely to defend his title this year. Fans would want to see him at his favorite clay court season in the Roland Garros before he calls it quits.
