The 14-time French Open champion has also played exhibition matches for numerous charity events across the world. He recently took part in an exhibition-cum-charity event organized before the start of the Australian Open 2023 to help Ukrainian people in their rebuilding effort. Rafael Nadal’s fans on social media shared this news.

“I wanted to send you this signed racquet and t-shirt to help in this big disaster that has happened in Turkey. Wishing the situation will improve soon, hopefully the people that got hurt and the families that lost somemone can get some help. Big hug,” the caption read.

Rafael Nadal, meanwhile, is trying to recover from his injury and find his form and rhythm back.

The Spaniard is trying to recover from a nasty hip injury which resurfaced during his second-round match against Mackenzie McDonald in the Australian Open 2023. He lost the match 4-6, 4-6, 5-7 and was knocked out of the competition. This injury also prohibited him from playing in any of the tournaments since.

Rafael Nadal will take a few months before he will be able to recover fully and will be match-ready and fit to play in the tournament. This means that he will miss the sunshine doubles-Indian Wells Open and Miami Open. Both the Masters tournaments are considered important as these have the highest ranking points on offer after the Grand Slams.

Hence, the 36-year old’s absence from the tournament is going to make a dent in his rankings. He has already dropped out of Top 10 of the ATP singles rankings and it is expected to drop even further as he would not return to the court before the clay swing begins. However, many expect him to be back at the French Open where he will try to win his career’s 15th singles title at Roland Garros.
