The Brisbane International is well underway with its amazing matches that started the new season of tennis. Stealing the show are the many young talents of Australia, and of course, Rafael Nadal, who made an amazing return to the sport. After a year out of the sport from an injury, the Spaniard made a memorable return by winning his first match against Dominic Thiem.

Continuing that streak, the 37-year-old displayed some more shots in his next match and in a dominant manner won the game. He was up against Jason Kubler and beat the Australian 6-1, 6-2 to advance to his first quarterfinals on return.

During the match, the Spaniard was seen moving freely with positive strokes across the court, and to the delight of the fans, he gave a positive remark on his body’s reaction.

After the victory, the former World No.1 was asked how he felt after the two matches. The Spaniard had a deep answer to confuse the fans but concluded on a positive note. Keeping in mind the fact that both his matches were not lengthy ones, Nadal revealed to have some feeling and tired muscles after the first match but regarding the hip and the foot, he is not feeling any strain and is delighted to be able to play. 

I felt a little bit some muscles tired here and there. In general terms, I felt good, no? The important thing is the surgery on the psoas-iliac and the hip, that's not bothering me at all. That's something that is super important for me. For the moment, the foot is answering well. That's for me makes me feel happy and be able to play better without a doubt.

Rafael Nadal pulled dominant victory to advance to the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International

On a tough day, Rafael Nadal won against homeboy Jason Kubler in straight sets to advance to the next round of the tournament. During the post-match interview, the Spaniard also complained about the toughness of the match due to the humidity and said that it was tough adapting to this condition, as he was sweating a lot during the match. After the first set, Nadal was left sweating a lot, which made him take the prolonged bathroom break.

Despite these conditions, the 37-year-old pulled off another victory, adding to his form before the much-awaited Australian Open. With much tougher conditions during the Slam, Nadal realizes the effort he has to put in to perform his best at the tournament.

However, as of now he has managed to enter the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International and is definitely in line to make a memorable comeback. Rafa will be facing Jordan Thompson next on January 5.
