Rafael Nadal’s recent statement, in which he downplayed Novak Djokovic in the GOAT debate, has already caused a lot of stir in the tennis world. His uncle Toni Nadal’s words on a possible battle between the two greats at the 2024 French Open have now added fuel to the fire, as he claimed that the Spaniard will have an upper hand over the Serb in the tournament.
He pointed out Rafa’s impeccable record at the French Open, which, after all, is unquestionable. He has a record of 112–3 (only three losses) in the tournament and has won the title 14 times out of the 17 times that he participated in it. Uncle Toni said that although Novak Djokovic won the French Open last season, it was not his best version, and that Nadal is way better on clay.
I see him capable of winning Roland Garros because I am his uncle, he has done it 14 times and because last year Djokovic, not the best Djokovic, won it, and Rafael on clay is better than him.Toni Nadal said. (H/T: Cadena Ser)
Rafael Nadal is currently taking part in the 2024 Brisbane Open and has reached the quarterfinals of the tournament with ease. He beat Dominic Thiem in the first round and Jason Kubler in the second round. The Spaniard faces Australian player Jordan Thompson in the quarterfinal and is a serious contender for the title now.
Rafael Nadal’s uncle is optimistic of his performance in the Australian Open
Toni Nadal stated that his nephew has even surprised his own team with the level that he is showing at the Brisbane International. He said that Rafa has always had the ability to get into shape quickly and has a habit of coming back even better after getting injured.
He said that if Rafa has a good draw in the 2024 Australian Open, he could have a good tournament. A good draw would be important, though, as he is not a seeded player in the Australian Open this season.

I think you do have options. If Rafael manages to play a few more matches, if in Brisbane he plays with more qualified people and in the Australian Open he has a good draw, essential as he is not seeded, it is possible that he will have a good tournament.Toni Nadal said. (H/T: Eurosport)
The 2024 Australian Open will kick off on January 14, 2024, and go on until January 28, 2024. Rafael Nadal’s initial plan was to participate directly in the Australian Open, but his team later decided to take part in the Brisbane International to have some practice ahead of the Grand Slam.
