A 22-time Grand Slam title winner Rafael Nadal has been a true follower of football for a long time. He has been in love with the sport, supporting Real Madrid right from his teenage days. Be it a Champions League final or an El Classico night, Nadal has been spotted quite a few times in the past watching Madrid’s games.
A video has recently gone viral in which Nadal was spotted at Grrece answering questions regarding the ultimate GOAT debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Surprisingly, he wasn’t hiding away from the truth of considering Messi the greatest player ever to grace a football field, but leaving that aside, he also added how he will always have that never-ending love for Real Madrid and their players.
The fan asked him straightway after the photo, “Messi or Ronaldo“. Nadal replied, “Messi is better but I’m a Madrid fan”.
As expected, this might leave a lot of Madrid supporters worried and angry. However, an actual supporter of the sport knows what the two footballers have given back to the sport, and a debate just ain’t worth it. Just like Nadal said, it is not possible to hate a player just because you support the rival team.
How much has Nadal been associated with football?

Rafael Nadal has been a true follower of football, and more specifically, of Real Madrid, traveling long flights just to be present in the crucial matches of the Los Blancos.
He has also been invited by Florentino Perez quite a number of times and congratulated by the whole stadium for his achievements in tennis. That’s not all; he has also been pictured several times alongside Madrid players, be they Ronaldo, Raul, or Zidane, for the love he possesses for the club.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez also wanted to conduct a Nadal-Federer match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu way back in 2019, which at that time held a capacity of 81,044 seats. Perez wanted to break the record for the most attendance in a tennis match, but the match didn’t happen. This is another indication of how much the club loved Nadal.
