Rafael Nadal requests special press conference after French Open finals amidst retirement talks, Roger Federer to likely feature
Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer
Rafael Nadal has been troubled by a lot of injuries throughout his career but he always managed to come back stronger. He recently recovered from a rib injury which made him miss out on the beginning of the clay season. He also suffers from a chronic foot problem, which causes him a lot of trouble on daily basis. The pain arising due to that syndrome caused Rafa to crash out of the Italian Open 2022 and also threatened his French Open campaign.
Rafa has been able to play without any inconveniences by his foot and even managed to win some grueling matches to enter the final of the French Open 2022 for the 14th time. He scored a thumping win over his arch-rival Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal and also came out of a marathon against Felix Auger Aliassime, unscathed.
There were some rumors going on about Rafa’s retirement after the French Open and it is a very scary moment for Nadal fans and tennis fans in general. It would just be a rumor except for the fact that Rafa had already said that he doesn’t know what’s going to happen next. But first, Nadal will play the final of the French Open against Casper Ruud.
Rafael Nadal might announce his retirement after the French Open 2022 final.
Nadal had talked about his pain saying that some days he has to take a lot of painkillers to just be able to practice. If Nadal manages to win his 14th title in Paris and his 22nd Grand Slam overall, there’s a high probability that he would like to give his feet the rest they deserve. It has been reported by RMC Sport that Rafa’s team has asked for an additional press conference regardless of the result in the final of the French Open 2022.
There are also some rumors about the presence of Roger Federer in Paris and his appearance at the press conference after the final. If all of these are true, then it might be possible that Rafa retires in presence of his old friend and rival Roger Federer. The bond Roger and Rafa share are quite amazing considering they have been a part of each other’s worst heartbreaks and greatest victories as well. Roger Federer himself is looking to make a comeback from the knee injury he suffered after the Wimbledon 2021.
