The Spanish ace Rafael Nadal begins light training under his uncle and ex-coach Toni Nadal. The Spaniard hopes to get fit enough for one final dance on the field he is all too familiar with.

Nadal was last seen on the courts at the Australian Open 2023, where he was the defending champion. Unfortunately, he had lost to American Mackenzie McDonald, in straight sets due to a hip injury. Since then, Nadal has been cooped up, nursing his injuries.

However, Rafa hopes to come back for a swan song. The former World No.1 is back on his feet, training with Uncle Toni. The 22-time Grand Slam winner, though has indeed proven himself on the tennis stage, aspires to come back one final time.

“One goal could be to go back to playing the Davis Cup and start 2024 well, with the guarantee of being able to be competitive,” said Rafael Nadal earlier as he hinted at a competitive return to the court. While the Spaniard would like to be back on the court, he would prefer it would be competitive and not simply as an entity on the tour.

While Nadal would like to remain optimistic, he also feels that there is no point in returning if he would not be able to play a competitive game. Rafa would rather have it than be able to play at the highest level possible.

Though he is unable to give a specific date, he assures fans that he will return when he is physically and mentally ready to be back. He also hinted that 2024 might be his last year on court.
