Carlos Moya confirms Rafael Nadal's fitness is .not ideal but intentions are solid for French Open

Rafael Nadal, will he or won’t he? Rafael Nadal’s participation in the French Open is almost confirmed by his coach Carlos Moya. But his fitness level is something his coach doesn’t seem so sure of. Recently in an interview given at an event, the ex-Spanish player Moya said that “It is clear that the preparation will not be ideal. But it’s Rafael Nadal, we can always expect the best.” Carlos Moya hinted that Rafael Nadal has not achieved the desired fitness level for the French Open.
Carlos Moya, who has been coaching Rafael Nadal since 2016, said that this is the favorite time of the year for the King of Clay. But Rafael Nadal’s injury has kept him off the tournament courts making him miss his favorite clay surface.
“Times are tough because Rafael Nadal is a competitive beast and it’s his favorite time of the year.” Despite missing three big tournaments of the season, Rafael Nadal’s fitness situation is not ideal, but his goal is fixed on Roland Garros. Carlos Moya added, “For him, saying no to tournaments like Madrid, Monte-Carlo or Barcelona is painful. But the objective remains Roland-Garros.“
Carlos Moya who is a brand ambassador of Brisk, paddle rackets was talking to journalists at an event by the sport company. When speaking about the return strategy Carlos Moya said, “There are plans, but they have to be adapted day after day to his physical condition. Originally we thought we would return for Montecarlo, Barcelona, Madrid. And instead we had to change everything.”
Rafael Nadal’s fans and tennis fans, in general, are waiting for the Spaniard to make a comeback on clay.

Journalists asked Carlos Moya about the new blood in tennis. He spoke about Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune and Lorenzo Musetti. For Alcaraz, he said, “He has already been number 1 in the world and therefore he has shown that he is ready. But this is a moment in which many young people are shining, including Sinner, Musetti, Rune.“
When asked about Jannik Sinner’s potential, he said, “for sure Jannik will win a Grand Slam: each player has a different tempo and tennis-wise Sinner is top.” He was also all praise for Lorenzo Musetti’s game. Moya said, “For me it is a phenomenon. A feast for the eyes, great technique, it just needs to mature and gain experience“
Talking about what’s the difference between today’s tennis to when he was a pro. He said, “Times have changed, the difference is immense. Today’s tennis players are insane athletes. There has been enormous progress in physical preparation, in the study of nutrition, in prevention“.
Coming back to Rafael Nadal’s injury recovery, Carlos said, “He wants to recover well and get back to playing soon in the part of the year that is the most important to him.”
