Rafael Nadal will be accompanied by his wife, Maria Francisca Perello, and newborn son at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Italy. The year-end tournament will get underway on Sunday, with Rafael Nadal being locked in the same group as the likes of Felix Auger Aliassime, Casper Ruud, and Taylor Fritz.

Rafael Nadal and his wife welcomed a new member to their family last month. The Spaniard admitted that it was a tough decision for him to leave his family behind to compete at the Paris Masters. The 22-time major champion was knocked out in just the first round in Paris, and flew back to Mallorca to spend some quality time with his family and ofcouse the newly born baby born.

Revealing how tough it actually was to leave his newborn baby at home during the 2022 Paris Masters tournament, Nadal lamented, “It has always been difficult to leave home to be honest,” the second seed in Paris admitted. Now it’s different again. After three weeks knowing my son, it’s a difficult experience in life to have to miss him, you have to adapt to it.”

Despite all his achievements, one of the titles missing from Rafael Nadal’s collection is the ATP Finals crown. The Spaniard will have one more shot at the title next week, with his rival, Novak Djokovic placed in the other group alongside Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Rafael Nadal has had little game time over the last couple of months, given his personal commitments. The 36-year-old also withdrew early from the Laver Cup in September, after pairing up with Roger Federer for his farewell game.

Rafael Nadal will kick-start his campaign against Taylor Fritz on Sunday evening. The duo played out a memorable five-set thriller at Wimbledon 2022, with Nadal coming out on top in the final set tiebreaker. Taylor Fritz has also had his fair share of success over his opponent this year, as he ended Nadal’s 20-match winning streak at Indian Wells in March.
