Ons Jabeur, the 2021 Wimbledon quarterfinalist was the 21st seed a year ago and she sets foot at the SW19 as the world number 2 this year. Jabeur has been an absolute trailblazer winning WTA 1000 trophy in Madrid, making it to the final in Rome, and winning a grass-court event in Berlin before she makes her start at Wimbledon 2022. Jabeur has been one of the most consistent performers this season and as a result, has risen to the top.

Karim Kamoun, Jabeur’s husband and fitness trainer reveals how goal-oriented Jabeur has been from the beginning. He narrated a hilarious marriage contract with Jabeur. He said, “It was part of the marriage contract, to be No.10 in the world. Now we are No.2, we are enjoying.” He said the Jabeur always believed in herself and that she could do it and the support system she built around her gave her the necessary push to be better. He also recounts the memories from Jabeur’s big moment at Wimbledon.

Playing at Wimbledon is every tennis player’s dream and for a player to be the first Arab or North African to enter the quarterfinal at Wimbledon is just magical. Karim recounts, “I remember the point Ons made with Muguruza, the banana shot, And I remember the Duchess of Cambridge was watching Ons, and she was clapping and she was happy for Ons. Jabeur, the 21st seed in 2021 knocked out Iga Swiatek, in the fourth round to reach the quarterfinal, but this year she is the third seed at the Championships and is looking to go further than 2021. Jabeur will begin her climb against a Swedish qualifier Mirjam Bjorklund.
