The dominant player in any sport is seen as the torchbearer. Iga Swiatek is just that when it comes to women’s tennis in today’s world. The men’s side of the game has been a lot more disciplined when it comes to the best.

However, the women’s side has been extremely fluid in the last few years. With many players having their hands on the Grand Slam trophies, the side of the game has been waiting for their next Serena Williams, who won’t leave the top spot.

Many feel Iga Swiatek is just that. Having 37 matches on the trot last year. Also, a winning streak of more than 20 on clay isn’t an ordinary achievement. Serena Williams ex-coach Rick Macci when asked about Swiatek, had this to say. “Iga Swiatek from Poland, she’s been dominant. Anybody that wins 37 in a row which she did last year you got something between the ears. And as we all know tennis is a game of inches from ear to ear but she has been dominant.

She just won her fourth Grand Slam, and third French Open. She’s a leader in the clubhouse. Women’s tennis has become a lot more fluid. Osaka is having a baby girl, Serena exited stage left. Very important that she’s kind of jumped in there and she’s not letting it go so she’s the real deal and the best is yet to come from Iga.” He believes she is doing well as the best player in the world. She isn’t allowing anyone to get close to her in those terms.

It may be too early to ask this question; however, given the kind of form Swiatek has shown, it isn’t a baseless claim. Can Iga Swiatek cross the 23 Grand Slams? At the age of 22, she made the best possible start with four under her name. The surface that still creates problems for her is grass. However, her red-hot form may change the statement this time around.

It goes without saying that her clay dominance is second to none. Many call her the Queen of Clay and expect her to make Paris her comfort Grand Slam. Much like her idol, Rafael Nadal, did. Swiatek will have to continue dominating by lifting the gas off the pedal if she has to reach anywhere close to Williams. However, if she can do it, the tennis world is in for some high-quality tennis.
