Tennis legend Roger Federer might have hung his racket but he still has that charm with him. The Swiss maestro is one of the most sought-after personalities by businesses and hence Federer has quite a few big business commitments. One of his longest contracts is with automobile giant Mercedes-Benz. The German company first onboarded Federer in 2008 and the partnership is still going strong.
In fact, Mercedes-Benz extended its partnership with Federer which has been going on for over 15 years recently. The 42-year-old gets around $5 million annually from this contract. Federer reciprocates the commitment by being available when needed, Recently, the Swiss tennis legend graced Mercedes’ latest event in Shanghai.
Federer recently landed in Shanghai for the Shanghai Masters which made a return on the tour after four years. The 42-year-old was named the first-ever Icon Athlete of the tournament. Along with his sporting duties, Federer is also taking care of his business commitments and hence he attended the latest launch event in the city.
As Mercedes-Benz China unveiled the long-wheelbase version of the new E-Class codenamed V214, Roger Federer was present at the event. He came in one of those cars and graced the event. The pictures and videos of Federer attending the event have been doing the rounds on the internet.
Is Roger Federer coming out of retirement?
Roger Federer hung his racket last year when he played his last match at the Laver Cup. The Swiss ace ended his career that spanned for over two decades with 20 Grand Slam titles to his credit. However, his fans still have not seen enough of him as they hope for the 42-year-old to come out of retirement. But Federer has no plans as such.
As Federer returned to Shanghai he was asked about his potential comeback. The Swiss maestro dismissed all such talks saying he had never even thought about it. However, Federer confessed that he wants to play a few exhibition tournaments in the future.“I would still like to play some exhibitions down the road, so I want to stay in shape and try to look good a little bit,” said Federer. The 42-year-old talked about how he has started going to the gym to fill the void created by not playing tennis. Federer revealed that he goes to the gym four days a week which has surprised him as well. Federer then put emphasis on eating right to stay healthy.
