The Australian Open 2023 is over. The fortnight produced a thrilling spectacle for the fans as expected. There were some hiccups midway. But, Novak Djokovic’s mastery at the end made everything forgettable.

The Serbian giant took away the title in Melbourne, his record-extending 10th crown Down Under. In the process, he broke several long-standing records which consolidated his position as one of the greatest ever. One can still be hungover with negative opinions about him. But, the exceptional feat he achieved doesn’t lie.

Novak Djokovic does not have any intentions to stop yet

With the 22 Major singles titles now, the Serb has leveled with his Spanish rival Rafael Nadal in the Grand Slam tally. He started late but later, winning Majors became his habit. Djokovic is already ahead of the Swiss maestro Roger Federer who has 20 titles to his name and looking to add a few more.

“I am motivated to win as many Slams as possible. At this stage of my career, these trophies are the biggest motivational factor of why I still compete,” said Djokovic. Just like the other greats of the sports, he is not interested in the debate of the ‘greatest of all time’ and is focused on enjoying as much as he can.

“I never really liked comparing myself to others, but of course, it’s a privilege to be part of the discussion as one of the greatest players of all time. If people see me this way, of course, it’s very flattering because I know that I give as much effort and energy into trying to win slams as anybody else.”
