Roger Federer had been quite active post his retirement from professional tennis last year in Laver Cup. Yesterday, the Swiss decided to do a ‘ask me a question’ Twitter session where the legendary player provided fun answers to equally interesting questions. On the question of Rafael Nadal‘s retirement, Federer expressed his wish of seeing the Spaniard achieve more accolades following his potential comeback in 2024.

Through a press conference last week, Nadal shocked tennis fans after delivering the news of his withdrawal from the French Open. The 36-year-old was preparing for his comeback in Paris after missing back-to-back ATP Tours of Monte-Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid, and Rome. The Roland Garros defending champion stated that he will be focussing his attention on his complete recovery and halting all activities for the year. Nadal further hinted that he will be playing his last professional match in 2024.

One of the users asked Federer what would he like to say to the sad fans of Nadal. The 41-year-old said that he supports the decision of the Spaniard and would like to see him winning more accolades in the future. He wrote, “i’m with you. but i’m happy for him that he’s giving himself the necessary time so that he can come back healthy and make a few more magical runs.”

Federer also stated that Nadal’s absence will be missed at the French Open. He further added that the Spaniard’s record of 14 Grand Slam wins at Roland Garros is one of the ‘most incredible’ records in the history of all sports.

Roger Federer might have bid farewell to the tennis world, but he is still there for his fans. The 41-year-old conducted an #AskRF segment on Twitter to answer the fans’ questions for a schedule of 90 minutes. While answering the questions, Federer shed light on the career, retirement, family, and future goals.

Last year, the former Wimbledon champion announced his shocking farewell from the tennis world. He played his last professional match under the team Europe at the 2022 Laver Cup. Since then, the Swiss have been quite active with his social life as he graced the events of the Met Gala and Miami Grand Prix. Yesterday, Federer answered a fan’s question about missing his life as a tennis player. He said that he misses everything about the game and used to be so immersed in his matches. “in a crazy way, i miss everything about it. for years of my life i didn’t even remember what day of the week it was (other than Monday was the start of a tournament and Sunday was the end),” he said.

With a career record of 20 Grand Slam titles, 103 ATP singles titles, and 28 ATP Masters accolades; Federer is one of the most celebrated players in the history of tennis. He also won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, in his doubles category partnership with Stan Wawrinka.
