Roger Federer recently described his nerve-wracking experience at the Coldplay concert earlier this year. In conversation with Jim Courier at the ongoing Laver Cup, the former Swiss tennis player narrated his experience of being up there on the stage during the Coldplay Concert.
The Coldplay concert was held in Zurich, Switzerland on July 1, where Roger Federer was among the special attendees. The lead singer, Chris Martin invited him up to the stage, where he performed for a couple of minutes. The tennis legend described the experience as extremely unnerving, where he took advice from his daughter.
Roger Federer revealed that he received an invitation from Chris Martin a day prior to the concert, asking him if he was in Zurich at that time. The Swiss maestro had just returned from the Elton John concert, which was held a couple of days prior to the event. “Don’t you want to come up on stage tomorrow,” Chris Martin asked Roger Federer a day before the concert. “I was in Zurich at that time, I came back from the Elton John concert. Stuff you do when you do not have much going on.” Roger further said, “I’m just happy and quite content to be away from it all, but I finish on top, you know, this is my music career. I ended it right there, I dropped the mic.”

Roger Federer recalls how his daughter influenced him to go up on the stage during the Coldplay concert
Roger Federer revealed that it was his brief conversation with his daughter that convinced him to go up on the stage. “I looked at my daughter and asked her if I should go up on the stage. She replied: Of course, you only live once, you have to do it,” Federer jokingly recalled.
Roger Federer played his last professional match at the Laver Cup last year, which was a Doubles encounter alongside his longtime rival and friend Rafael Nadal. Despite his retirement, the Swiss maestro has been ever-present in Vancouver during the 2023 Laver Cup.
The Laver Cup is missing several stars in attendance during this year’s event, which includes the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. This is the sixth edition of the event, with Team World winning their first title last year. Day 1 belonged to Team World, as they won all four encounters on the opening day of the three-day event.
