The Swiss legend Roger Federer discloses how his father reacted to his plans to visit Wimbledon this year. In a recent interview, he also talked about his relationship with Princess Kate Middleton. Federer is currently having a peaceful retirement life after one of the greatest careers of any tennis player ever, and his visit to Wimbledon was one of the top highlights of the year.
In a conversation with the New York Times Federer said, “Last year I walked out on Centre Court for the 100-year anniversary celebration. It was beautiful but painful. I was injured. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to play again, so it was a very emotional moment. But this year was totally different. My dad whispered to me, “Don’t you wish you were playing on court instead of sitting and watching?” and I was like, “No. I feel content watching and enjoying the game.”

Federer also talked about the experiences of watching the match from the stands with Princess Kate Middleton beside him. He explained that it was not quite easy to watch the match since he cannot overdo or talk more than a limit to them. According to him, it was difficult to keep silent at times just enjoying the match and applauding them.
The Swiss great said, “It was so fun sitting next to Princess Catherine. I know her quite well. She is an avid tennis fan, and she plays herself. Sometimes we have to be careful we don’t speak too much. You can talk, and then it’s super-quiet, and then you have to applaud.“
With Rafael Nadal also out of action due to injury, the tennis world is feeling a void to replace these two icons of the game. The emotions were evident from the crowd when Federer stepped onto the Wimbledon court even as a spectator.
