Tennis star Roger Federer recently revealed that he sent his sons to fellow tennis player and old rival Rafael Nadal‘s tennis academy after his two boys started taking an interest in the game. Federer attended the opening of the Rafa Nadal Academy seven years ago. Back in 2020, the Swiss tennis sensation claimed to have given his word that he’d be sending his children to his arch-nemesis camp. Two years later, the 42-year-old did just what he said.

Federer retired from the Laver Cup last year. The former World No. 1, who’s a father to four kids, sent his twin sons, Lenny and Leo, to Nadal’s academy during the summers. “The girls didn’t love it in the beginning, but as they get better, they’re enjoying it and playing points now. They were up at [John] McEnroe Academy in East Hampton, and the boys were in Mallorca at the [Rafael Nadal] camp for a couple of days,” he revealed in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

The Swiss also revealed that all of his kids loved spending their summer at the camps learning tennis. He further testified that he had been trying to take some time to teach his kids himself after they showed an interest in Tennis. Speaking about how being a former professional player translates, Federer admitted, “It’s obviously an interesting dynamic, because I’m the dad, and not a former player. It is what it is”.

Retired tennis professional Roger Federer is the dad of twin sons Lenny and Leo and twin daughters Myla and Charlene. In an interview a few days ago, the 42-year-old revealed that all of his kids had begun taking an interest in the game of tennis.

“When I have time — and I try to make the time — I go on the court with them a little bit,” Federer admitted. He also told the magazine what he remembered about being a dad and juggling his career at the same time. “I have twin girls, as you know, Myla and Charlene. They were born in ’09, just after I became, I think it was world No. 1,” he told Savannah Guthrie. “The girls were born and from that moment on, 2010 and 2011, I didn’t win any slam. I remember changing diapers, bathing the girls and just being a dad.”
